2.1 Name of Present Bishop: Most Rev. Gregory Ebo Kpiebaya
2.2 CV of Bishop:
Gregory was born at Nanvilli, a village in the Nadowli District (Upper west Region) in 1933 into a traditional African family of 10 children. The exact date of his birth is unknown.
His father, Mr. Kpiebaya married Miss Namuma Dompuoye with who he had eight children, six boys and two girls. Gregory, the sixth born, was named Ebodong (Ebo for short)
Mr. Kpiebaya married a second wife, Nuomah by name, with whom he begot two children: a boy and a girl. Mr. Kpiebaya and his family believed and practiced the African Traditional Religion.
At the age of 9 Ebo joined the catechumenate and when he went for the “Election” for baptism, he was selected to go to school at Nandom, 120km away from home. This was the nearest Catholic school in the area. In Nandom, Ebo joined a large group of catechumens and was baptized on March 25, 1942 in St. Theresa’s Church, Nandom. He took Pope St. Gregory the Great as his patron Saint.

1951-1953: Minor Seminary – Wiagha
1954-1962: Major Seminary – Tamale
Ordained Priest: 8 October, 1962 - Immaculate Conception Church, Kaleo
1962-1963: Pastoral work at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Daffiama
1963-1965: Studies Catechetics at the Lumen Vitae Catechetical Institute,
Brussels, Belgium and at the Institue Superieur de Pastorale
Catechetique in Paris, France.
1971-1974: Studied Pastoral Theology in the Catholic university of Leuven,
Belgium, where he obtained a Licentiate degree (STL) in theology.
APPOINTMENTS:
1966-1971: Director of Catechetics Training Centre, Kaleo. He was also
In charge of translation of the Bible and Liturgical texts.
17th December 1974: Appointed Bishop of WA
15 March 1975: Ordained Bishop of WA
26th March 1994: Appointed Archbishop of Tamale, and installed on 6th November
1994 at Tamale
