Very Rev. Fr. John Louis, Administrator of the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra, has said that despite the current problems, Ghana has made tremendous progress.
He, therefore, called on Ghanaians to make selfless sacrifices to sustain her independence in order to make more progress.
Fr. Louis told parishioners during Mass that though the expectations of many had not been met, Ghana had made some progress and “there are still prospects for further development.”
He said many African countries have had civil wars, but Ghana has been spared of such turmoil.
He asked Ghanaians to make good use of the country’s abundant mineral and good human resources to develop the nation.
Fr. Louis urged Ghanaians to desist from social evils including armed robbery and dealings in cocaine.
Ghanaians should do genuine work and refuse bribes so that “our descendants will enjoy the blessings God will give our home land.”
The Cathedral Administrator called on the youth “to hold in high esteem the heritage won for us by our forefathers,” urging them to toil for Ghana and where necessary, “shed your blood.”
He expressed the hope that the present and subsequent governments “will put in place the necessary initiatives and changes in our educational set up” to improve on the computer literacy of the youth.
