Pope honours 50 at Amakom

Fifty Members of the St. Paul’s Catholic Parish at Amakom in Kumasi were recently honoured by Pope Benedict XVI, for their meritorious and dedicated services to the Church.

They were drawn from Amakom, Ayeduase, Apirede, Anwomaso, Asokwa, Kentinkrono and Deduako that form the Parish.

Presenting Certificates of Honour signed by the Pope, to them, Most Rev. Gabriel Justice Anokye, Auxiliary Bishop of Kumasi congratulated them for their services which had attracted the Pope’s recognition.

Bishop Anokye challenged Catholics to lead the crusade against all forms of social vices and pray for such offenders to turn a new leaf.

He attributed the high incident of social vices to broken homes and single parenthood which had exposed the youth to peer group pressure.

Mr. Thomas Boamah, President of the Church, on behalf of the recipients thanked the Pope and pledged to work harder.
