C.V OF MOST REV. GABRIEL MANTE
Born at Nkonya Ahenkro in the Volta Region on July 27, 1947.
After elementary education, he entered St. Mary’s Junior Seminary (now St. Mary’s Seminary Secondary School), Lolobi, in September 1964. He completed in June 1969 and obtained GCE ‘O’ Level Certificate.
He continued at St Teresa’a Minor Seminary, Amisano, from September 1969 to June 1971 for the Sixth Form, and obtained the GCE ‘A’ Level Certificate.
He entered the St. Peter’s Regional Seminary at Pedu in September 1971 to train for the ministerial priesthood. He completed in June 1977, and was ordained a priest on July 2, 1977.
He worked as an Assistant Parish Priest in the Sacred Hear Cathedral Parish, Ho, from August 1977 to September 1980.
He was appointed Parish Priest to Saints Peter and Paul Parish at Anfoega, and worked there full time from September 1980 to April 1981. From April to September 1981 he fulfilled an additional responsibility as the Secretary of the Bishop of the then Keta-Ho Diocese. This additional responsibility became his full time job from October 1981 to August 1983.
In October1983 he entered the School of Theology of Northern Spain, Burgos, and obtained the Licenciate in Theology (Dogma) in November 1985.
He was appointed to a teaching position at St. Peter’s Regional Seminary in October 1986, and taught there until June 1992. He then proceeded to Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconcin, USA, in August 1992 for doctorate studies in Systematic Theology. He was at the point of completing this programme with a dissertation when he was appointed Bishop of Jasikan.
He was ordained and installed a a bishop on May 28 and June 17, 1995, respectively. Until November 22 last year, he was responsible for Youth Apostolate on Ghana Catholic Bishop’s Conference
